The inhabitants of Cité des Palmiers, Douala, are still recovering from shock and consternation following the tragic deaths of two kids in the economic capital, Douala.
The corpses of two siblings were discovered dead in a Toyota Lancer car parked in a garage in the neighbourhood not far from home on Monday, May 5, 2014. The children who were aged five and three years old, respectively, were missing at about 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2014.
Their mother, Anyemfouet Françoise, reportedly told security investigators that they were at home when she went to her beautician that morning. She could not find them when she returned home. A manhunt for the babies kicked off with the help of neighbours and continued throughout the day until the next day when they were found the remains of the kids at about midday.
The local administration and the Police went to the scene, transferred the corpses to the Laquintinie Hospital Mortuary. A police source said besides the corpses was vomit, indicating that the children might have ingested some poisonous substances before giving up the ghost. Meanwhile, the Judicial Police has opened investigations to uncover the cause or causes of their deaths.
