Presidents Biya, Deby Appreciated

The visiting Chadian President was welcomed in messages, song and dance at the Youande Hilton Hotel.

The Chadian community in Yaounde has described President Paul Biya of Cameroon and Idriss Deby Itno of Chad as artisans of peace and stability in their respective countries. This was the main message on the banner they carried yesterday, May 22, 2014 at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel vicinity bearing the effigies of Paul Biya and Idriss Deby . The Chadians joined other groups and the Yaounde population in general to welcome the visiting President of the Republic of Chad, Idriss Deby Itno who started a 48-hour working and official visit to Cameroon yesterday.

The excitement of the population and dance groups reached the apex when President Paul Biya and his guest drove into the Hilton Hotel from the Yaounde-Nsimalen International Airport. President Paul Biya accompanied Idriss Deby to the hotel where  the visiting Head of State had close to an hour rest before taking off for the Unity Palace for talks. Everyone present demonstrated their love, admiration and attachment to the two Heads of State and the ideals they stand for. Concrete manifestations were the effigies of the two Heads of State displayed by different groups.

Remarkable groups such as the Association of petit traders “Bayam-Selam of Cameroon”, different groups of President Biya’s ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM with their dance groups and other dance groups from the West and Centre Regions of Cameroon competed for attention and admiration. Their displays came to add to other messages in banners at the entrance to the Hilton Hotel such as “Welcome to Cameroon, H.E. Idriss  Deby Itno, President of the Republic of Chad,” “Paul Biya, a consummate diplomat at the service of peace in Africa”  and the message of the “Bayam-Selam” in which they pledged to support and accompany the Head of State, H.E. Paul Biya  towards emergence.” Any visitor to Yaounde would easily notice Cameroonian and Chadian flags flying at conspicuous electric polls and other objects at the 20th May Avenue in Yaounde, the main road from the Yaounde-Nsimalen International Airport to the Unity Palace.
