Abduction Of 10 Chinese Workers Discussed

House Speaker, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, held talks with Wo Ruidi on Friday, May 23, 2014.

Events of the night of May 16, 2014 in a Chinese company in Waza in the Far North Region some miles away from the Nigerian border where one soldier was reportedly killed, some 10 Chinese workers abducted and one wounded, have once again come to the fore.

It was one of the issues discussed at the cabinet of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril on Friday May 23, 2014 when the Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon, Wo Ruidi came visiting.

Wo Ruidi told the press after discussions that Cavaye Yeguie Djibril expressed warm words of comfort on the wounded Chinese national while reassuring him of the commitment of the Cameroon government to see that the 10 abducted are freed. He decried the mishaps, allegedly orchestrated by Nigerian Islamist group, the Boko Haram.

Another issue that came under discourse was the official visit of the Vice President of the National Assembly of China. Though little was said about the visit, the Chinese diplomat explained that the visit comes on the heels of the strengthening of ties between the parliaments of both countries.
