Douala Bike Rider Rapes Girl

She was heading for a prayer vigil in New Priso when her itinerary was changed.

A 16-year-old girl was raped and allowed to bleed profusely by a yet unidentified commercial bike rider at the Lobessou neighbourhood in Douala. The young girl, name withheld, left her New Bell abode for a prayer night at the “Bois des Singes” neighbourhood in Bonapriso, commonly called New Priso, when the bike rider she hired suddenly turned against her.

According to the young girl, it was her first time going to the Church, and it was about 9 pm when she arrived in the dark junction near the “Bois des Singes” Cemetery. She phoned to inform an organiser of the prayer night of her arrival at the junction, but since she would not give an exact description of the place where she was. She gave the phone to the bike rider to help describe the place to him.

After kindly executing the help, he forcefully hit the girl’s nostrils with the phone. As she was still struggling under the influence of the blow, the rider hypnotised her with an unknown traditional potion which rendered her weak and sleepy. In her state of unconsciousness, the bike rider quickly seated her back on the bike, steadying her behind him by holding her two hands in his armpits and quickly taking off.

The duo rode through several neighbourhoods and kilometres from New Priso, including New Bell, Ndokotti, PK14 to a remote area of the distant outskirts neighbourhood of Logbessou. While there, she regained consciousness and tried to resist the assault to no avail but sustained bites on her arms and several bruises before the  rape act. She said she was finally tied up hands and head with a cloth, raped and abandoned bleeding profusely and unable to move.

Some neighbours of the scanty habitation said they heard a faint cry from a distance in the bush and rushed to investigate but were afraid. The young girl who knew not the neighbourhood was helped and rushed to a local hospital in the Youpwe neighbourhood that night where she received medical attention.
