SOPECAM Accounts Are Good

The Board of Directors held its 51st ordinary and 22nd extra-ordinary session on June 30, 2014.

The Board Chairman of Cameroon News and Publishing Corporation (SOPECAM), Joseph LE, yesterday June 30, 2014 after the company’s 51st ordinary and 22nd extra-ordinary sessions told pressmen that the enterprise has no major problem. This conclusion came after over four hours of deliberations amongst board members during which they also reiterated that the 2013 accounts of the company are good and authenticated therein.

This is coming at a time when Cameroon Tribune is celebrating 40 years of existence, today July 1. As the newspaper marks 40 years of existence, the Board Chairman of the company stressed that celebrations will not be focused only on the day (July 1). According to Joseph LE, celebrations will take place through a period; that is throughout 2014. “There are many activities in the pipeline to celebrate this feast which marks a period of maturity for the newspaper”, Joseph LE underscored.

While noting that the 51st ordinary session of the Board of Directors meeting essentially focused on examining the 2013 accounts of the company, the Board Chairman said, he and his team worked on the accounts and their conclusion is that everything is good but for the need to readjust the organigram of the company while putting certain personnel in particular positions in a bid to strengthen and improve the functioning of the enterprise.

During the extra-ordinary session, board members dwelled on the revision of certain texts regarding the functioning of the enterprise which will allow Cameroon Tribune and SOPECAM in general to be better managed and produce more money. In this light, Board Members examined measures to re-dynamise the commercial sector of the company. A committee put in place by the Board Members presented its report during the session and in no time, the Board chairman said measures will be taken to ensure that the enterprise works towards gaining more money through reactivating commercial activities.

Joseph LE explained that it was important for the company to produce more money because it is a business enterprise. “Besides the help from the State, the company needs to produce supplementary money so that the company’s activities will be expanded not only in Cameroon but throughout the Central African Sub-Region”, the Board Chairman added.

Yesterday’s session was an opportunity for the board to welcome new members, Christian Tobie Wangue, representative from the Presidency of the Republic, Honourable Bonaventure Mvondo Assam, representative from the National Assembly and Mrs Alvine Mireille Dogoua Zeri epouse Bayo, representative from the Ministry of Mine, Industry and Technological Development.

Alvine Mireille epouse Bayo replaces Polycarpe Ateba who was also handed a special goodbye package from SOPCEAM.  The General Manager of SOPECAM, Marie-Claire Nnana presented the reports and she was assisted by the Deputy General Manager, Shey Peter Mabu.
