CDU Denounces Boko Haram Threats

The National Chairman of the Cameroon Democratic Union (CDU), Adamou Ndam Njoya, spoke to the press in Yaounde on June 30, 2014.

Members of Parliament, Mayors, top brass and supporters of the Cameroon Democratic Union (CDU) met in Yaounde yesterday June 30, 2014 within the framework of their republican days of reflection and debates to dissect issues of national interest. Focus was on the moral values in the family though the upsurge of insecurity coming from the Islamist sect, Boko Haram, could not be undermined.

Speaking to the press earlier before debates, CDU’s National Chairman, Adamu Ndam Njoya argued that perpetrators of the act are ignorant about their religious education. He said values were the missing link encouraging recruitment into such groups. He however denounced their actions calling for families to take the responsibility of bringing up their children in the most honest and ethical manner.

Yesterday’s meeting laid emphasis on the fact that human relations pose a problem when knowledge within the family, in both private and public sectors, is tampered with. Adamu Ndam Njoya stressed on the fact that knowledge in society should be accompanied by professionalism of those who have it or called upon to organise and animate institutions and activities of members of society.

Another issue that called for discussion was the indelible marks of threats, slavery and colonization aggravated by economic domination which according to CDU requires better reflection to erase such effects from “our” memories so that “we can better affirm our identity.”
