Visiting Minister Taïga challenged Mbah Shupong Michael to meet the expectations of livestock farmers.

On the strength of Arreté No 00002/MINEPIA of January 17, 2014, 47-year-old economist, Mbah Shupong Michael, now charts the way forward for the North West Livestock Development Fund (CDENO). The visiting Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Industries, Dr Taïga commissioned Mbah Shupong Michael recently with a charge to turn full circle and lead CDENO to meet the expectations of livestock farmers. 

Staring the new Administrative Director at the face is the challenge to satisfy local and international demands of the sector, inspired by the trans-African Bamenda-Enugu corridor which opens Cameroon to a large international market.  It was Minister Taïga who reminded Mbah Shupong Michael that 40-year-old CDENO is a huge instrument for the development of the North West Region which plays a strategic and front role in livestock production.

The stakes are high and from the look of things, the new Administrative Director, Mbah Shupong Michael  is poised to emerge as a blessing in CDENO’s mission to protect, maintain and improve livestock health and ensure better production and productivity, improve and provide adequate pasture for livestock, maintain and provide appropriate livestock infrastructure, significantly contribute towards poverty alleviation in rural areas, provide quality and sufficient animal feed to livestock farmers.

It is also about financing and executing mass vaccination campaigns and supporting grazing organisations. CDENO is also credited with assistance to livestock breeders through the organisation of pastoral shows. It also features a breeder’s shop which provides subsidised animal feed, drugs and other equipment  to  farmers . Mbah Shupong Michael, the father of seven from Awing, Santa Sub-division is a product of GHS Mbengwi, the University of Yaounde and the Higher Teachers Training College, ENS. He takes credit with extra knowledge in economic analysis and policy, money and banking.
