This will be during an extraordinary general assembly meeting on July 5, 2014.

The Cameroon cycling federation will be meeting in an extraordinary general assembly meeting on Saturday July 5^th to adopt the revised statutes of the federation. The decision convening the meeting was co-signed by François Njele and his arch rival, Moustapha Dogo in their capacities as president and vice of former bureau before the disputed elections that led to the suspension of the federation by the International Cycling Union.

However some dissenting voices are already being raised, saying the extra-ordinary general assembly convened for Saturday is illegal as it did not respect the duration between the convening and the date of the meeting. Erstwhile president of the federation, Ateba Koungou also refuses to recognize the authority of Moustapha Dogo to sign the document. Hence, it will be interesting to find out whether the meeting finally holds given the scission that prevails and whether a quorum will be attained.

Trouble erupted in the federation when incumbent François Njelle was barred from re-running for office by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education for failing to live up to sports ethics. The election which saw Moustapha Dogo elected president was not recognized by the Chamber of Conciliation and Arbitration of the National Olympic and Sports Committee as well as the International Cycling Union. In order to break the deadlock and return to normalcy, the ICU recommended the revision of the statutes of the federation and the holding of fresh elections.

The first draft of the revised statutes was submitted to ICU for appreciation before being submitted now to the general assembly of the federation for adoption. The adoption of the new statutes will pave the way for the holding of fresh elections in the federation which will put an end to the double headedness of the federation.

Moustapha Dogo claims to be the legitimate president, having been elected by the general assembly while François Njele contest that the election was illegal and that he remains the legitimate president recognized by the ICU. Though there are several candidates, the race for the presidency of the federation boils down to a duel between François Njelle and Moustapha Dogo, with Ateba Koungou as outsider.
