CAR Precarious Security Situation Remains

Sectarian fighting continues unabated as the new transitional government remains contested.

Peace, security and stability still remain far fetched in the Central African Republic as clashes between the belligerent anti-Balaka and Seleka groups continue.

The clashes of Wednesday and Thursday last week in Boda town in Lobaye led to the killing of eight people, Centrafrique presse info reported.  An officer of MISCA is cited to have explained that Muslims in the town retaliated the killing of a 14-year-old child by Anti-Balaka fighters and the  ensuing fighting resulted in the death of eight people.

Political stability is further compounded by protests and rejection of the new transitional government, formed on August 22, 2014 by Prime Minister, Mahamat Kamoun. Mohamed Moussa Dhaffane, the third personality in the Seleka group whose members were appointed in the transitional government declared that they did not send any representative in the government, AFP reported. Prime Minister Mahamat Kamoun appointed Seleka members as Ministers of Transport, Post and Telecommunications and Livestock.

The Spokesperson of a group of political parties, GPP-RTL likened to the former majority of President François Bozize, the Seleka forces ousted in 2013, also contested the appointment of their members into the transitional government, AFP reported. Mohamed Bengué Bossin is cited to have declared that the group of opposition parties did not send any representative in the transitional government.

He said they have no problem with Prime Minister, Mahamat Kamoun but for the fact that he was the Director of Cabinet of  former Seleka leader, Michel Djotodia who ruled the Central African Republic for one year and bequeathed the legacy bad memories for the people.
