Focus will be on disciplines, finances and reorganisation of grassroots structures.

Delegates to the National Executive Committee meeting, NEC, of the Social Democratic Front, SDF, slated for Bamenda, North West region this Saturday August 30, 2014, will examine pertinent issues affecting the smooth running of the party.  

Information from the National Communication Secretary, Beatrice Annembom Monju, talks of a NEC meeting that will likely discuss indiscipline by some party die hearts. She revealed that a possible matter is the case in Menchum North constituency in Menchum Division of the North West Region where the District Chairman reportedly assaulted the party Member of Parliament, Ndong Larry Hills.

Though details were not given about the circumstances of the row between the District Chairman and the MP, the SDF Communication Secretary explained that both officials came close to washing the party linen in public due to misunderstanding.

Also to be examined will be the reorganisation of grassroots structures. The party has 18 MPs in the National Assembly after the September 30, 2013 twin elections, up from 15. It is the only opposition political party that has 14 Senators (Adamawa and West Regions), all of them, elected.

The SDF says public funding to political parties for 2014 is still awaited reason why the party has to better manage the financial hard times sweeping across the party. “We are down and are still expecting” funding from the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation,” Annembom stressed.  Party Senators and MPs are also expected to give a balance-sheet of the just-ended June session of Parliament.

SDF will expectedly reiterate its position on the ongoing war on Boko Haram, Beatrice Annembom said. She explained that the party is conscious of happenings and cannot remain indifferent to the Boko Haram insurgency as well as the spread of the deadly Ebola virus that has killed almost 1,500 people in West African countries.
