Efforts are still being made to attain 13,000 target by August 31, 2014.

A series of last-minute evaluation sessions are currently going on in the Littoral Region to get as many voters as possible register before the exercise officially rounds up in two days’ time.

With the onset of voter registration since last January, at least 10,000 new names have been added to the 900,000 voters already on ELECAM rolls as at July 2013. According to Ghislain Ngangue, ELECAM’s Head of Communication for Littoral, the current turn out of potential voters may make it possible for the 13,000 target to be attained by August 31, 2014. Most of the new voters are young people who were 19 years last year and have attained the eligible 20-year requirement this year.

A series of supervision and evaluation sessions to boost registration 48 hours to the end of the exercise, are going on in ELECAM centres in the region. Electoral Board Member for the Littoral, Thomas Edjake Mbonda, is on a working tour to all the divisional offices of ELECAM. Since August 26, 2014, Thomas Edjake Mbonda and his team have been to the Sanaga Maritime, Nkam, and Moungo Divisions where they encouraged divisional aides to remain steadfast and committed. They evaluated registration and made preparations for future ELECAM activities.

Meanwhile, the Regional Delegate of ELECAM for Littoral, Tete Ildevert Claude Emmanuel, will round up his one-month tour of ELECAM structures in the region this weekend.
