The Central African envoy discussed the matter with the African Development Bank senior official.
The transitional government in the Central African Republic, CAR, is seeking the assistance of the African Development Bank, ADB to help strengthen public finance management in the conflict-thorn country.
André Nzapyéké, special envoy of the transitional President of the Central African Republic Catherine Samba-Panza on September 9, 2014 in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire had discussions with the President of the African Development Bank, ADB, Donald Kaberuka. He disclosed that their discussions focused on the re-engagement of the ADB in the country that is witnessing great financial difficulties, Corbeau News Centrafrique reported.
André Nzapyéké who is also former Prime Minister of CAR said ADB accorded budgetary assistance to the country two months ago. It will help to consolidate the authority of the State, the electoral process, strengthen national dialogue, lead to reform in public management and re-deployment of the administration throughout the country, he disclosed, adding that the role of ADB was vital in helping the Central African Republic out of crisis.
Transitional President, Samba-Panza sent André Nzapyéké to urge the President of the ADB to lobby for support with international financial and donor institutions, the envoy said. Donald Kaberuka reportedly took the commitment to support the Central African Republic find global solutions to its difficulties.
Reports say the CAR economic outlook for 2014 is bleak as insecurity persists and the heavy economic and financial damage will be difficult to repair in the short term. The challenge the country faces for 2014 and 2015 is to restore security, facilitate access to humanitarian assistance and organise elections.
