CAMES 2014 Preparatory Sessions Underway In Yaounde

Some 17 senior lecturers from four countries in the Central African Region are undertaking the session which will end on September 24, 2014.

Some senior lecturers in Cameroon, Gabon, Congo Brazzaville and Bangui, in the Central African Republic have begun training sessions ahead of the 17th competitive examination of aggregation to become Associate Professors in the domain of medicine, pharmacy and the odontostomatology (ear, nose, throat and the digestive system specialist).


While opening the training session, yesterday September 11, 2014 at the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University of Yaounde I, the representative of the Minister of Higher Education, Diendonné Emmanuel Pecnyen, who is Director of University Accreditation and Quality at the Ministry of Higher Education, called on the panel of juries to be fully engaged in effectively preparing the candidates to become associate professors best known as Professeur agrégés in the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education  known as CAMES in the French Language.

The President of the Regional Centre for the preparation of CAMES candidates, Professor Maurice Aurélien Sosso who is also Rector of the University of Yaounde I, said the objective of the sub-regional workshop to prepare candidates against CAMES 2014 examination which comes up in November this year, is to improve the candidates’ chances of succeeding during the examination which consists of three sections (presentation, clinical and oral).

For two weeks, the 17 candidates, consisting seven from Cameroon, four from Gabon, five from Congo Brazzaville and one from Bangui will present their research works to a panel of jury amongst whom is the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in Congo Brazzaville and Gabon.

The candidates will also answer questions from the jury as well as undertake a clinical exercise on a patient at the Yaounde Teaching Hospital. It should be recalled that those seeking the title of Associate Professor should have carried out at least 25 to 30 research findings and should have been senior lecturers for at least five years.
