Mrs Samuela Isopa on September 17, 2014 expressed satisfaction with the fruitful cooperation between her country and Cameroon.

Barely two months at the helm of the Italian Embassy in Cameroon, Ambassador Samuela Isopa already has an appraisal of some of the projects her government is carrying out in Cameroon. One of such projects is at the “Chantal Biya” International Reference Centre for Research on Prevention and Management of HIV/AIDS (CIRCB) and the Pan-African NGO, African Synergy for the Fight Against AIDS and Suffering.

Yesterday September 17, 2014, Samuela Isopa paid a courtesy visit to the headquarters of African Synergy and CIRCB in Yaounde during which she said “I am very proud of CIRCB; a centre which was jointly established by Cameroon and the Italian government. I am also proud of what has been achieved. It is indeed a centre of excellence not only in Cameroon but the Central African Region.”

Upon her arrival at the locality hosting both institutions, Samuela Isopa’s first stop was at the headquarters of African Synergy. On behalf of Mrs Chantal Biya, the First Lady of Cameroon and Founding President of African Synergy, the Executive Secretary of African Synergy, Jean Stephane Biatcha welcomed their august guest. In a video, she was presented the mission of the organisation of African First Ladies which, amongst other, things is to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV, care for HIV patients, curb maternal and neonatal mortality and contribute to alleviate poverty in the continent.

At CIRCB, the ambassador was presented the history of the research centre, its organisation, the different laboratories with research topics which are focused on HIV/AIDS and health. During the presentation, the Director of CIRCB revealed that the Scientific Council of CIRCB is headed by an Italian; Professor Carlo Federico Perno. After visiting the different laboratories the Italian Ambassador told pressmen that it was her first visit to the centre and she will continue with cooperation ties between the centre and her country.
