Scores of handicap and vulnerable persons carried out a three-hour march in Douala on Thursday.

The war against the extremist group, Boko Haram, has left no one indifferent. Yesterday, in the economic capital, scores of handicap and vulnerable persons carried out a three-hour march from ‘la Salle des Fête’ in Akwa to the premises of the Bonanjo Central Post Office, brandishing placards that promotes peace and denounce the activities of the Boko Haram sect. The distance they covered, using crutches, tricycles and wheelchairs is enough reason to embrace peace because war has never solved any problem. The group consisting the blind, cripples, lame, deaf, dumb and albinos brandished messages like ‘let’s bar the way to Boko Haram’, ‘let’s emerge in peace and stability in Cameroon’, ‘no to extremists’, ‘let’s safeguard our stability jealously’ and ‘courage to our soldiers’.

Grouped under the banner of ‘Association Nationale des Jeunes Handicapes du Cameroon’, ANAJEHCAM, the President of the association, Jean Pierre Fopa, intimated that the march is to sensitise citizens on the necessity to maintain peace in the country. The Divisional Officer for Douala I, Marc Mbariga Ekoa and Littorals Regional Delegate for Social Affairs, Jean Pierre Edzoua acclaimed ANAJEHCAM’s initiative saying it is in line with the Head of State’s struggle.
