House Speaker, CAR Diplomat Discuss Ties

Cavaye Yeguié Djibril and Martial Beti Marace exchanged courtesies on September 26, 2014, in Yaounde.

The House Speaker, Cavaye Yeguié Djibril, Friday September 26, 2014, held discussions with the new Ambassador Extraordinary Plenipotentiary of the Central African Republic, CAR, Martial Beti Marace, on how best to strengthen ties, especially in the field of parliamentary activities.

Friday’s meeting with House Speaker was described by Beti Marace as exceptional especially in terms of tapping from a man full of wisdom. He explained that it was a privilege to share experience with someone whose clairvoyance goes beyond borders. He pointed out that there was need for people of such caliber who can serve as “inspiration throughout their careers in the interest of their people and the continent.”

Without giving details, he said it was but natural that they also focus on security challenges faced by the country. Sequel to the feuding between Seleka and anti-Balaka militiamen, the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in the Central African Republic, MINUSCA on September 15, 2014 in the capital Bangui, officially took over peacekeeping operations in CAR from the African-led International Support Mission, MISCA, to promote and protect human rights, support justice and the rule of law and to help the country organise democratic elections.

Cavaye Yeguié Djibril and Martial Beti Marace therefore reviewed ties between both countries, including the MINUSCA peacekeeping force whose Commander is Cameroonian-born, Major General Tumenta Chomu Martin; with task to manage the stakes and challenges.
