A lorry carrying second hand goods damaged a diary shop and a bar on September 27, 2014 in the Nkolndongo neighbourhood.

The inhabitants of Nkoldongo in Yaounde are in a state of shock. A truck damaged a diary shop and a bar in the neighbourhood on Saturday September 27, 2014 at 8:00 a.m.

Reports say the truck carrying a container full of second hand goods was packed by the roadside along the road leading to the Mvog-Mbi neighbourhood to supply goods to a second hand shop in the neighbourhood when the truck suddenly it started rolling without control and landed at the dairy shop a few metres away.

One of the neighbours, Oumarou said the truck was stationed at the roadside and its contents were being removed when onlookers noticed that the vehicle was moving. The neighbours raised an alarm and cried for help to no avail. The truck crushed a motorbike parked in front of the diary shop and water containers in front of a public tap beside the shop.

Leo Gaïmand, the motor boy blamed the accident on break failure. According to the neighbours the owner of the shop alone in the shop and sustained some bruises on his head. The owner of the motorcycle, Donastien Folla, who lives next door, said he parked his motorcycle to get a tool to fix one of the wheels of his motorcycle.

He explained that on his way out some 30 seconds later he saw the wall of the shop crumbling and being pushed towards him. He then called for his children who were still sleeping to warn them of the danger. However, he said he was grateful to God as the children were still in bed when the accident happened. Neighbours also said it is a miracle that at the time of the accident there were no traders and passersby on the spot.

Meanwhile, it is alleged that one of the wheels of the motorcycle was stolen by an unknown individual on Saturday night.
