Biya’s 32 Years In Power: Music, Tributes, Pledges End The Day

A gala was held at the Yaounde Conference Centre yesterday evening to conclude nation-wide celebrations.

It was a beautiful and busy evening yesterday, November 6, 2014, at the Yaounde Conference Centre as Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, (CPDM), party members, supporters and senior officials gathered to end the celebration of President Paul Biya’s 32 years in power.

With the entrance to the hall lined up by party youth raising party flags, with brass band music playing in the background, it was a festive atmosphere to end a day spent in reviewing the dividends of President Biya’s reign. Hosted by CPDM Central Committee Secretary General, Jean Nkuete, the event was attended among others by Senate President, Marcel Niat Njifenji, the Secretary General at the Presidency, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, other senior party officials and cabinet ministers.

The event was divided into three main parts. The first was to wish happy anniversary to the President. The second part, which was to pay tribute to the Head of State and the Armed Forces, had groups like Zangalewa, Takam II, Keguegue International, Richard King, La Voix de Cenacle, Kouokam Nar6 and the Oku Juju Dance, making their appearance. There was also an extract from the theatrical piece performed last year in Buea at celebrations marking 50 years of the independence and reunification of Cameroon.

The concluding portion of the programme, was entitled “All behind President Biya in the fight against insecurity.” So well attended was the gala evening that all aisles were filled up with additional chairs to enable more guests have seats.
