Yaounde Handicap Centre To Train Staff

The seventh Extraordinary Board Meeting of the National Centre for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities held on Friday, November 7, 2014 in Yaounde.


People living with disabilities constitute 15 per cent in the world with 3000,000 disabilities in Cameroon according to World Bank statistics. In order to take care of well being of this category of persons there need to be qualified human resources. It is in this light that the seventh Extraordinary Board Meeting of the Cardinal Paul Emile Leger National Centre for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities held on Friday, November 7, 2014 in Yaounde.

Speaking at the opening, the President of the Board of Directors, Catherine Bakang Mbock who also doubles as Minister of Social Affairs said not only the state loses a lot of money taking care and managing these persons but the centre whose mission is to take care and manage these category of persons they need these category of persons the need qualified human resources especially with the investment budget that has stepped up to FCFA 100 million in 2013 to FCFA 300 million in 2014. She called for a review of the staff profile before conferring them any post of responsibility.

Catherine Bakang Mbock also called for need for the promotion of partnership so that the centre will be open to greater opportunities with national and international institutions. With this the CNRPH will be responding to its mission as a model in the profession of physical deficiencies and a visible laboratory and their reintegration of in the socio economic life guaranteed.
