« Nous avons mis sur pied un calendrier de réunions »

« 17 syndicats ont déposé un préavis de grève auprès du gouvernement et on devait observer la grève, ce lundi 10 novembre. Nous voulons l’application du texte du chef de l’Etat qui baisse les prix du carburant. Nous avons voulu enclencher la grève parce que le gouvernement n’ouvrait pas le dialogue avec nous. Il a accepté de le faire, lors de la réunion de vendredi 7 novembre dernier, au ministère du Travail et de la sécurité sociale. Nous avons donc mis sur pied un calendrier de réunions avec les différents ministères concernées par nos doléances. Et ces réunions commencent demain mardi, avec les ministères des Transports et des Finances pour les assurances et autres. Une autre suivra avec la CSPH. C’est la raison pour laquelle, nous avons décidé de suspendre momentanément notre mot d’ordre de grève, pour attendre la réunion d’évaluation le 1er décembre. Et si rien n’est fait jusque-là, nous serons obligés de relancer la grève le 08 décembre prochain. »
“Insurance Rates Should be Reduced”

“We want the government to take into consideration our profession because we face a lot of challenges. The Ministry of Labour and Social Security has decided to send us to all those ministries concerned with transport. These include the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Transport, amongst others. What we are expecting from the meetings we are going to have with the different ministries as from tomorrow is that insurance rates should be reduced. All the claims that we are making are true. Insurance companies do not pay us. You pay for insurance cover and when you have an accident, your insurance company does not compensate you despite increases in insurance costs. There is also the Carte Rose that insurers are selling to us it does not serve us in any way since it was instituted in 1994. Concerning fuel, the Head of State signed a decree reducing the price of petrol by FCFA 80 for Super and FCFA 60 for Diesel. We cannot understand why the Head of State will sign an ordinance and it is not respected.”
