A New Political Party Is Born

The Alliance Républicaine Camerounaise, ARC, was launched in Yaounde on November 11, 2014.

Cameroon, as at October 2014, counted 297 political parties so far registered at the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, amongst which are the Alliance Républicaine Camerounaise, ARC. Though registered on November 19, 2013, ARC only went functional with the launch at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel during a press conference on November 11, 2014.  ARC’s President, Arthur Orphée Nkili, promised a turn-around in the country’s political landscape and governance.

Orphée Nkili’s “Camer Wake Up” concept promises to reshape the country, reinstate social justice, put smiles on the faces of youths and rethink the country’s institutions. ARC vows to differ from other political parties by reconciling the country and carving it out as a model on the continent in terms of youth employment.

The party argues that Cameroon boasts the highest number of graduates in the sub-region, yet it tops the unemployment chart. The party President therefore promised 500,000 jobs each year if he comes to power. But when quizzed on how he will come about this when his predecessors have tried and failed, Orphée Nkili stressed that where there is a will, there is a way.

He said ARC was coming to restore republican values, social responsibility, national unity, transparency and democracy. Orphée Nkili stressed that Cameroonian youths were in quest of change, but were not wishing for any bloody transition. ARC invited Cameroonians to wake up as according to him, “If you change yourself, you change your country and if you change your country, you change Africa and once you change Africa, you change the world.”
