Francophonie: Paul Biya’s Deserved Recognition!

Senegal this Saturday, November 29, 2014, Issue No. 55 of the French language monthly magazine, “L’Essentiel des Relations Internationales,” devotes 52 of its 130 pages to a special report on President Paul Biya and his role in Cameroon, the Central African Sub-region and in International Relations in general.

The cover carries a large picture of a smiling President with the title, “Paul Biya: President of the Republic of Cameroon; experience at the service of peace and development.” In a profile entitled “Paul Biya, a builder-President,” Philippe Gorytych recounts his steady rise to power to become Cameroon’s second Head of State.

Talking about this weekend’s summit, the magazine revisits the fruitful relations between Cameroon and the Francophonie, especially the role of President Biya. It is copiously illustrated with glossy pictures of the presidential couple, the President and international figures like Pope Francis, UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, French President, François Hollande, Presidents Alassane Ouattara of Cote d’Ivoire and Joseph Kabila of the Democratic Republic of Congo, among others.

Laurent Taieb’s magazine also highlights the role played by certain contemporary personalities in the progress Cameroon has witnessed in recent years under the 32-year reign of President Biya. These include the Prime Minister and Head of Government, Philemon Yang, the Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, the Minister, Director of the Civil Cabinet, Martin Eboutou Belinga, the Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Laurent Esso, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, Rene Emmanuel Sadi, the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Louis Paul Motaze, and the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o.

The glossy publication covers most aspects of national life such as the economy, tourism, major infrastructure projects, sport, bilingualism, ethnic groups, diplomacy, the war against terrorism, relations with France and efforts to improve the business environment. Describing Cameroon as a pillar in the Central African Sub-region, “L’Essentiel des Relations Internationales,” also talks about President Paul Biya’s efforts to attain emergence for his country by 2035.cameroun-vitrine-francophonie-ouvrage
