Alamine Ousmane Mey faced the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly last November 28, 2014.

Finance Minister, Alamine Ousmane Mey has told members of the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly that security and health challenges in the eastern region and northern border of Cameroon have influenced the choice of the 2015 budgetary orientations, but did not in any way jeopardizing government’s pursuit to execute ongoing major industrial development projects and the launching of new ones. The Minister was speaking on Friday November 28, 2014 as he presented the country’s prospects for 2015 and the report on the economic, social and financial situation of the country.

The Minister began with institutions of sovereignty - Presidency of the Republic, Services Attached to the Presidency, the National Assembly, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Economic and Social Council. On the macroeconomic and budgetary perspectives of the country for 2015-2017, Alamine Ousmane Mey said though parameters must have evolved since August when projections were made, the country’s economy continues to expand since recovery began in 2010. Estimated at 6.1 per cent in 2014, after 5.6 per cent rate in 2013, then projected at 6.2 per cent in 2015.  

The draft budgetary allocation for MINFI is FCFA 48.424 billion for 2015, down from FCFA 49.835 billion in 2014.  The budget seeks to improve the coordination of services and ensure proper implementation of MINFI programmes, improve the rate of collection of non-oil revenue, create an appropriate environment for business development, improve the country’s treasury efficiency and optimise the use of mobilised resources to finance the economy and coordinate the proper implementation of State budget reform.
