The 20^th edition of the Guinness mount Cameroon race has been scheduled for February 14, 2015. The information was made public in a joint press conference granted by the president of the Cameroon Athletics federation, Emmanuel Motomby Mbome and the General manger of Guinness Cameroun, Baker Magunda.

The mode of registration and price money remain the same, there will be several innovations this time around notably the Olympic flame that would go round the country prior to the race. The flame of hope will visit every qualifier race notably in Ngaoundere, then move to Batie, Bamenda, Yaounde, Douala, and finally Buea. On each lap of the tour, Guinness Cameroon will carry out some activities of general interest such as constructing water catchments, schools and hospitals.

The venue of the kick off of the race at the Molyko stadium in Buea, will also witness a face lift as a befitting structure will be raised at the departure and arrival point of the race and special space reserved for the athletes to warm up before the race. In between the race there will be several cultural and social activities to entertain the public while waiting for the return of the athletes from the mountain notably the projection of motion pictures of past editions of the race since 1973.

Another major innovation will be the granting of prizes to the first athlete to reach hut one, two and the summit besides rewarding the overall winner in both the male and female categories. The race this year might by spiced by the arrival of a lap of the cycling tour of Cameroon.

The president of the athletics federation declared the return of Guinness has restored hope in the race saying their ambition is to make the every new edition of the race better than the previous one. A commitment that was shared by the general manager of Guinness Cameroun who said they want to make the race an iconic event not only in Cameroon but also in Africa.

He invited other companies to come on board saying Guinness cannot shoulder the responsibility alone. The director of norms, Blaise Omgba representing the minister of Sports and Physical Education said government will continue supporting the event and urged organizers to make sure the fruits should bear the promise of the flowers. The press conference was attended by Cameroon’s roving ambassador, Roger Milla and a representative of the National Olympic and Sports Committee.
