Don Moen Ends Cameroon Tour

don-moen-camerounThe Head of State was represented at last Friday’s debut concert in Yaounde by Minister Victor Arrey Mengot.

Renowned American gospel singer, Don Moen, yesterday, December 14, 2014, ended his “God Heal The Land” musical tour of Cameroon with a concert at the Limbe Botanic Gardens in the South West Region. The concerts were organised jointly with the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, PCC. Moen began his series of public, live performances with his band at the Yaounde Multi-purpose Sports Arena in the Warda neighbourhood on Friday, December 12, 2014; followed the next day by another one at the Douala Castel Hall. He was accompanied by his wife, Laura Moen.

President Paul Biya was represented at the Yaounde concert by the Minister in charge of Special Duties at the Presidency, Victor Arrey Mengot. The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang, was also among thousands of fans who were thrilled with spirit-uplifting songs which Don Moen said were intended to “revive the spirit of hope in Cameroonians.” The Yaounde crowd was thrilled by choral groups, including the Holy Trinity Choir of PCC Nsimeyong Congregation, Yaounde, before Don Moen’s arrival.

Blasting off with the famous ‘Our Father’ hit, the United States Baptist pastor, song writer and worship leader, and his band, took the crowd through three hours of worship, prayer and evangelism. Taking turns to sing and at the same time play the key board or violin, Don Moen sang out his soul as he helped fans to relive the beauty of time-tested songs like ‘Arise,’ ‘God will make a way,’ ‘Most High,’ etc.

Though he has written more than 100 gospel songs, 64-year-old Donald James (as he is originally known,) does not acknowledge that he is a song writer or a worship leader, in spite of his acclaimed performances across the world. His discography reflects his passion to create resources for the church that lead people into an honest and intimate relationship with the Lord. In 2002, his peers recognised that lifelong commitment and presented him with the Ray DeVries Church Ministry Award.don-moen-cameroun
