Christians Celebrate God’s Love

Special church services took place nationwide yesterday to commemorate Christmas Day.

Christians nationwide, particularly those at the Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church in Yaounde yesterday, December 25, 2014 honoured the birth of Jesus Christ through a bilingual church service during which the officiating pastor, Reverend Philemon Nfor urged the congregation to know that God is love so they should enjoy the fruit of His love which is Jesus Christ. During the service, Christians of Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church, prayed, praised and offered to God what they had. The English Service children presented special sketches on the birth of Jesus Christ as well as special songs from individuals.

Rev Nfor said the emphasis this year is that God is love and that if Christ was born, it was because of God’s Love. The Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) throughout the year has commemorated activities under the theme fruitfulness and during this Christmas period, Pastor Nfor said the church is kind of concluding the theme of the year by stressing that people should enjoy the fruit of God’s Love which is the giving of His Son Jesus Christ to come and later die so that those who believe in Him shall have everlasting life. Reading from the book of John Chapter 3:16 -18, Rev Nfor emphasised that these verses were telling the congregation about the fruit of God’s love to mankind. Christians were told that God truly loved them and if they have Jesus who is coming at Christmas, they have the most precious gifts ever. Rev Nfor asked the congregation to think about the most precious gift they have ever given somebody and the reason why? By answering these questions, the officiating pastor told Christians that they will come to understand that God most truly have loved them, that he gave the most precious of all that He Had: His Son.

Talking about giving, the Reverend said the more people are concerned about the person they are offering a gift, the greater the value of the thing they want to give. Just as the word of God says in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not die but have eternal life”, the preacher said if Christians go home understanding that God gave them the best of gifts they could ever have, they will be open to receiving the Lord, Jesus Christ and go home rejoicing that they have God Himself with them. As such the congregation was urged to pass on the love of God to others and share the Goodness and Good news of Jesus so as to be abundantly blessed. Rev Nfor stressed that Christians should not spend time in beer parlours, but find time to fellowship and share God’s love with one another.
