Chinese Ambassador Honoured

The outgoing Chinese ambassador to Cameroon has been decorated with the medal of the Grand Officer of the National Order of Valour.

Wo Ruidi, the outgoing Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China leaves Cameroon raised to the rank of the Grand Officer of the National Order of Valour for his great contribution to the strengthening of bilateral relations between China and Cameroon during his stay in the country since August 2012.

The Minister of External Relations, Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo on December 26, 2014 offered a State dinner in honour of Wo Ruidi on behalf of President Paul Biya. In a toast at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel in the presence of some Cameroon cabinet ministers and officials from the Chinese Embassy, Moukoko Mbonjo enumerated cooperation projects executed and started during Wo Ruidi’s stay in Cameroon. He singled out the ongoing works in projects such as the Kribi Deep Seaport project, the Mekin and Memve’ele dams and Limbe and Bafoussam stadia. He also identified the start of work on the Douala-Yaounde dual carriage-way, Douala Gynaecology, Obstetrics and Pediatric Hospital being completed, laying of the national optical fibre, second phase of the Douala water supply projects and training  to Cameroonian workers and award of  scholarships to students to study in China.

Ambassador Wo Ruidi announced that military cooperation between Cameroon and China witnessed a great leap forward with the appointment of the First Military Attaché at the Chinese Embassy in Yaounde. He lauded the hard work of President Paul Biya to ensure the liberation of 10 Chinese hostages in the Far North Region and pledged the determination of China to support Cameroon’s emergence programme.
