Supporters have pledged to stand by the team as it enters the continental football fiesta in Equatorial Guinea.
It is an atmosphere of anxiety in Bafoussam, capital of the West Region, as supporters of the Indomitable Lions brace up to support their team in the upcoming 30th Africa Nations Cup to rumble off in Equatorial Guinea on Saturday January 17.
The supporters of the entire West Region and those of Bafoussam in particular, see this 30th edition of the competition as a real opportunity for the Indomitable Lions to completely reconcile with their public. This is more so because they missed out on the last two editions and recorded a catastrophic outing in the last World Cup Competition.
Many supporters in Bafoussam believe that the Lions are going this time around to break the spell that has haunted them these years. According to Mbida, alias Senator, leading a group of supporters in Bafoussam, handsome victories await the Indomitable Lions in Equatorial Guinea.
He says the present Cameroonian squad will beat all her opponents hands down to bring back the Cup of Nations to the Cameroon soil. “We all know that Cameroon got her qualification ticket for the Cup of Nations to defend the national colours without suffering any defeat and that serenity within the ranks of the Lions is going to continue in Equatorial Guinea” another supporter, Austin Mounamo, told Cameroon Tribune.
Reports from other groups of supporters say that fan clubs are expected to watch matches on large screens the Bafoussam City Council has promised to install in some strategic positions of the town; especially in areas where security measures have been put in place to fight against hooliganism amongst supporters.
Another supporter and seller of sports gadgets, says it is going to be a fortune for the population of Bafoussam to strongly watch matches live on screen because that will help the population to acquire new support techniques during such international competitions considering that Bafoussam will be one of the towns to host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. He said the Equatorial Guinea adventure is a facility to learn organisation, logistics and discipline style by amateur supporters, to prepare for 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
