U.S.A: Cohabitation Difficulties Begin Surfacing

The Republican majority in Congress is determined to block some decisions taken by President Obama, he has vowed to use veto power.

After taking control of the House of Representatives and Senate that make up the two Houses of the Congress in the United States of America (U.S.A.), the Republicans who constitute the majority have started to counter some actions of President Barack Obama.

The House of Representatives in a concrete manifestation of cohabitation hurdles in the ongoing session has voted to pass a bill that would effectively roll back President Obama’s recent immigration initiatives, BBC reported. "This executive overreach is an affront to the rule of law and to the Constitution itself," BBC quoted Speaker of the House John Boehner as having said after the vote.  He is further quoted as explaining that,  "The people made clear that they wanted more accountability from this president, and by our votes here today we will heed their will and we will keep our oath to protect and defend the Constitution.'' The bill still needs to go to the Senate for approval.

President Obama in November 2014 announced that he would use executive authorities to enact sweeping immigration changes.  The executive order is aimed at providing temporary relief from deportation to four million undocumented immigrants currently living in the United States. Reports say the U.S.A. has an estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants.  Mr Obama on the wake of the mid-term election of Senators and members of the House of Representatives announced that he would unilaterally reform immigration policies.

House Speaker John Boehner in response to the declaration on November 14, 2014 said the Republicans will fight President Obama, “tooth and nail” on his immigration plans. White House reports say, faced with the determination of the Republicans to block the migrant plan, advancing reasons that the president’s actions overreach his authority and are unconstitutional, Barack Obama says he will veto the bill.
