The CPP and CDU parties have expressed indignation against the recent attacks in the Far North Region.

The Cameroon People’s Party (CPP) of Edith Kahbang Walla and Dr. Adamou Ndam Njoya’s Cameroon Democratic Union (CDU) have followed suit in various denunciations against the Islamist terrorist group that have been multiplying attacks in Cameroon’s Far North Region. In separate press releases issued on the heels of recent attacks in Mayo-Tsanaga Division, the party leaders reaffirms their support to the defence forces who are waging a war against the sect. 

The CPP release states  “The Cameroon People’s Party (CPP) is outraged and shocked by the attacks carried out in villages of the Mayo Tsanaga Division,” The release signed by the party’s National President, Edith Kahbang Walla, further laments that “in all cultures and religions, especially African ones, civilians and children are not a part of warfare. Deliberately making them victims of an attack is heinous and unacceptable”. 

While extending profound condolences, thoughts, encouragements and prayers to the affected families, the Douala-based opposition political party urges government to review its strategy, mobilise available resources nationally and internationally, and intensify the fight against Boko Haram to overcome it once and for all.

The CPP equally salutes Cameroon’s Armed Forces that countered the attack and were able to liberate some of the hostages.  “The party exhorts the government, religious and traditional authorities to provide the population with the physical, moral, spiritual courage and consideration needed at this difficult time.  According to Kah Walla, Cameroonians should remain eternally grateful to defence forces for risking their lives daily in order to protect and safeguard national integrity.

Meanwhile, the Cameroon Democratic Union of Dr. Adamou Ndam Njoya has also articulated its exasperation over multiple attacks by terrorist on Cameroon. While reiterating its opposition against violence of all forms, the CDU chieftain reaffirms the party’s support to State authorities and the defence forces for their fight to protect territorial integrity.
