Driving Licence: Digitalising Theoretical Exams On Course

examen-auto-ecoleThe President of Codes Rousseau had a meeting with personnel of the Ministry of Transport yesterday, February18, 2015.

Measures to better secure and improve the level of training offered at various driving schools in the country are intensifying. Yesterday, February 18, 2015, the Inspector General at the Ministry of Transport, Zacharie Ngoumbe had a working session with a delegation from Codes Rousseau, a firm charged with the digitalisation of driving licence theoretical examinations in the country.

The President of Codes Rousseau, Michel Goepp, and his team were at the Ministry of Transport to present the result of an experimental phase of the digitalisation of theoretical examinations to obtain a driving licence in the country. The experimental phase took place in Yaounde, Douala, Bamenda and Ngaoundere with a relatively good result.

According to Michel Goepp, they wish to propose to the government to put in place a new system of driving licence theoretical exams using electronic system with multiple choice questions. Through the electronic system, candidates will use some sort of a remote control to answer questions from a box device. Michel Goepp explained that when the candidate has finished answering his/her questions, the machine will automatically correct the script without any human intervention. According to the President of Codes Rousseau this is a more objective system that will better evaluate the level of candidates at the same time.

During the meeting, heads of different driving school trade unions asked questions such as why a reform on driving licence exams when reforms on training have not been achieved, the level of security of the answers inserted in the machine as well as their wish to be better trained on the equipment before being able to train students.
