Governor receives seven classrooms, 54 desks freely offered by Shumas to enhance quality education.

In barely 18 years since inception as an outfit for integrated sustainable rural development, the Strategic Humanitarian Services (SHUMAS) and her UK-based “Building Schools for Africa” showcase 700 classrooms constructed, rehabilitated and equipped with desks, tables, chairs and toilets to enhance the learning and teaching process across the nation. The Shumas education programme was topical on February 20, 2015 when the outfit officially presented seven more classrooms for inauguration at GTC Ntigi, Bambili and GTC Nkeung, Nkwen. North West Governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique was in the chair when the respective communities sang and danced for the rare show of generosity by Shumas.

In effect, it was the first ever classrooms at GTC Ntigi since creation three years ago and to show were four new classrooms, a four-room toilet block with hand washing facilities , a school garden, drinking pails with cups, 27 desks, three chairs and three tables while GTC Nkeung received three new classrooms, 27 benches, three tables, three chairs, a school environmental garden, hoes, machetes, watering cans and water system toilet with hand washing facilities. It was a moment for the Governor to salute the philanthropic actions of Shumas in support of the government’s efforts towards enhancing quality education and achieving universal education by giving every child an opportunity to emerge. He hailed partnerships that help Cameroon to advance and pleaded with Shumas to extend generosity to the enclaved and underprivileged communities of far away, Furu Awa Sub Division. The Principal of GTC Ntigi, Achengang Emmanuel told Cameroon Tribune that before the Shumas classrooms, the institution has been operating in kitchens and bedrooms offered by the community. The Technical Adviser No I, in the Ministry of Secondary Education, Mrs Helen Egbe Agborbesong was around for the event.

Ndzerem Stephen Njodzeka, the General Coordinator of Shumas-Cameroon took time off to announce the imminent handing over of more projects in Ecole Publique Bagara, Mayo Danai, Ecole Publique Waifi, Mayo Kani, Ecole Maternele Catholique St Thomas , Manjo, GBPS Upper Bayelle and the equipment of the Dom, Kovifem and Sabongari health centres. In the backdrop of speed brakes, Ndzerem Stephen stated the commitment of Shumas to continue with the vision of improving lives, reducing poverty and empowering people and communities. Shumas supports the actions of the government towards the realisation of the growth and employment strategy. They also intervene in the areas of health, water and sanitation, social welfare, women empowerment and agriculture.
