Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai and the population turned out in the streets of Limbe on March 16, 2015 for a solidarity walk against terrorism.

The citizens of Limbe and Fako in general stood up in unison on Monday to display their total support for efforts made by President Paul Biya and the military to defeat the despicable Boko Haram sect. Thousands answered present at the Community Field in Limbe to a call by local authorities to demonstrate their rejection of the heinous acts committed by the terror group.The massive turnout was not only impressive but messages were well digested from the ecumenical service led by clergymen from various religious denominations, including the Muslims. They prayed to God to stand by the Defence Forces as they wage war against Boko Haram. The clergymen stressed that unless God is with Cameroon, the soldiers will fight in vain. They called on the population to trust in God as they fight the war. It was a moment for the population of Fako to state their commitment in standing by the nation’s Armed Forces fighting Boko Haram.

The march which was led by the South West Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai, commenced from the Limbe Community Field through Half Mile, New Town and to the SDO’s office. The population carried placards with messages against insurgency, terrorism, violence against humanity and all activities of Boko Haram. The population pledged to support the military against the terrorist group through their offerings which were given during the ecumenical service. Financial and material support will continue in the days ahead to support the military. Similar marches against Boko Haram are expected to take place in the other five Divisions of the South West Region.
