The Head of the EU Delegation and the Nigerian High Commissioner were last Thursday received in separate audiences by the Minister of External Relations.

The Head of the European Union Delegation to Cameroon, Ambassador Françoise Collet has reaffirmed the EU support to Cameroon in the fight against the terrorist group, Boko Haram. She was speaking to the press in Yaounde last Thursday April 23, 2015, after an audience with the Minister of External Relations, Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo. “It was an occasion to reaffirm the full support of the European Union to Cameroon in its fight against Boko Haram and for peace and security be it in Cameroon or in the region”, she stated. While commending Cameroon for the steps already taken in the fight against terrorism, Françoise Collet said it is important for Cameroon to ratify the treaty on arms trade she has already signed. Both personalities also discussed on the Iranian Nuclear issue during which the EU’s role in the Lausanne agreement for peace and security in the world was highlighted. 

Nigeria To Intensify Fight

Meanwhile, the High Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Cameroon, H.E Hadiza Mustapha, told reporters after her meeting with the Minister of External Relations that the new leadership has made the fight against Boko Haram a priority. This is a continues fight. The fight is against insecurity and the protection of national interest of Nigeria and its neighbours. Her audience with Minister Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo was part of regular consultations to share views on issues of concern to both countries such as politics, economy, and security amongst others. She said her host used the occasion to convey the felicitations of the Cameroonian government for the successful elections in Nigeria.
