They occupied the podium in all the series of the professional category.
The mount Ngovayang race took place on Saturday April 25th with athletes from the defense forces and police carrying the day in the professional category. Both the men and women’s series were won by FAP as Bakarie Ernest came first in the men’s series, followed by Dzoua Djongte Paterson and Jude Leka in the second and third positions respectively. In the women’s category, Tatah Carine, Cezono Meli Angele and Mpenck Nang Ghislaine, all of FAP emerging first, second and third respectively. In the amateur category, Bella Christian came first in the men’s series followed by Ngwa Simon and Nzie Bilounga in the second and third positions respectively.
Winners in each category were awarded medals and prizes as well as cash prizes. The first in each category bagged home the sum of FCFA 75,000, the second 50.000 and the third 25,000 while all those who took part in the race 19 km race bagged home a participation fee of FCFA 3,000. Over 150 athletes took part in the 5th edition of the race organized by the SDO for Nja and Lobbo Division, Mbah Bernard Marie.
Mbah Bernard Marie said he was motivated to organize the race so as to give youth in the area an opportunity to play and showcase their talents. He expressed the wish to see the athletics federation take over the organization of the race saying the race serves as a nursery for athletics talents as winners of the Ngovayang race have gone ahead to win the mount Cameroon race such as the 2009 winner who went ahead to win the 2010 edition of the Race of Hope. He expressed gratitude to all who helped in the organization of the race namely, Brasseries du Cameroon, the Kribi deep seaport and other well wishers.
