Yaounde War College: Stakeholders Satisfied With First 10 Years

Activities marking the 10th anniversary of the institution ended yesterday April 29, 2015, in Yaounde with a symposium.

The Yaounde International War College is 10 years old. Created by a Presidential decree in 2005, the institution serves in training high level military officers from some 24 countries in military strategies for the maintenance of peace. The 10th anniversary activities of the institution which ran for two days ended yesterday April 29, 2015in Yaounde under the chairmanship of the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Defence in charge of Veterans and War Victims, Koumpa Issa.

Prior to the closing ceremony, a symposium with two overriding topics brought together international partners, the 10th batch of trainees, students from the International Relations Intsitute of Cameroon (IRIC), Defence authorities and the general public. The stakes of security in the continent and the dynamic research strategies in the domain of security was under focus. The stakeholders also examined the regional, multinational and multidimensional partnerships in the domain of higher military training.

According to the Commander of the Yaounde International War College, Major General Ngambou , the 10th anniversary was intended to take stock of activities of the institution so as to ensure the objectives are intact. “We are assured that we are in the right direction”, he rejoiced.

While hailing the cooperation of France in putting in place the Yaounde War College? Koumpa Issa lauded both international and national partners of the college which he said remain a pinnacle of African integration.
