Their admission is expected to significantly boost the number of practising professionals.

Some 162 candidates, who sat the December 13, 2014 admission examination into the National Order of Tax Consultants in compliance with the October 15, 2014 Ministerial order, are gnashing their teeth, expecting results to be out anytime. Nana Djibrilla, Inspector General in the Ministry finance, on May 5, 2015, assured the general assembly of the National Order of Tax Consultants that the release of the results was imminent.

The examination is expected to admit interns into the profession, who after five years of practice, will become experts. “The release of the results will significantly increase the number of future tax consultants,” explained Guy Honoré Tchente, the President of the National Order of Tax Consultants. Established firms are expected to recruit from the newly admitted; likewise those who offer them consultancy services. The law governing the profession provides for the organization of admission examinations into the National Order every two years.

Given the importance of taxes in State revenue, tax consultants are expected to educate tax payers on their obligations and defend the latter when they have misunderstanding with tax auditors. “The exam will provide the business community with more qualified tax consultants, well trained and competent,” underlined Honoré Tchente. The general assembly urged the board to broaden the network of foreign partners. It was also challenged to create a standing committee to proofread CEMAC texts with the view to providing better protection to the profession. The President of the General Assembly, Antoine Depadoue Essomba Eyenga, urged members to live up to expectations and to pay their dues regularly.
