Orphans and people with disabilities in the Mfoundi Division yesterday May 12, 2015, received gifts from the association of the First Lady.

Spouses of and members of the diplomatic corps in Cameroon, who are also part of the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC) yesterday, May 12, 2015 at the esplanade of the Yaounde City Council handed didactic materials, agricultural tools, kitchen equipment, food items, medications and other household materials to four institutions in the Mfoundi Division of the Centre Region that take care of orphans and vulnerable people. Through the voice of the personal representative of the First Lady of Cameroon, Michèle Moukoko Mbonjo extended a hand of generosity with words of encouragement and hope to the vulnerable people from CERAC members, particularly those of the diplomatic wing.

Donations on the occasion were destined to kids and people of four homecare centres in Yaounde; Children’s Community Centre, Centre for Arts and Craft, Sport for Handicapped Persons of Cameroon, Our Lady of Mercy’s Orphanage and Colonel Daniel de Rouffignac Home/School for the Blind, Visually Impaired and Abandoned Persons. Following the footsteps of their president, First Lady, Mrs Chantal Biya, who is the Founding President of CERAC, the diplomatic wing of the association decided to express solidarity without boundaries to some of the vulnerable people in Yaounde.

At the Children’s Community Centre, CERAC did not only rehabilitate the building but also handed gifts to the structure. Similar gifts of didactic materials, agricultural tools, kitchen equipment, food items and medication were also offered to the other institutions. The Founder of CERAC, Mrs Biya also sent special gifts of photocopying machines, refrigerators and coolers to all the institution.    

Mrs Michèle Moukoko Mbonjo told the beneficiaries how important their well-being is to the First Lady, reason why she will do all, to improve their living standards so that they can fully integrate and contribute to an emerging Cameroon by 2035. While stating that CERAC will not withhold any effort to assist any person in difficulties, Michèle Moukoko Mbonjo appreciated the friendship, humanity and solidarity gesture of the diplomatic wing of the association.

The different beneficiaries took turns to express their gratitude to CERAC and its Founding President for the gifts which to them is a sign of courage and strength to live and hope for a better future. As they prayed for their benefactor, one of the speakers, Mr Elanga from the Children’s Community Centre, said the gifts were a perfect illustration of the divine mercy shown on the poor. For over three hours, the beneficiaries expressed their joy in special songs, sketches and dance.
