Public Administration Anti-corruption Assessment Underway

A national survey on the impact of anti-corruption activities within public administrative units was launched on Thursday in Yaounde.

 

The National Anti-corruption Commission, CONAC, has launched a nationwide survey to assess the impact of anti-corruption activities carried out by public administrative units in Cameroon. The project was launched yesterday, June 18, 2015, at the Commission’s headquarters in Yaounde in the presence of civil society organisations involved in the fight against corruption.

Speaking during the launching ceremony, the representative of the Chairman of CONAC, Alfred Etom said the project seeks to evaluate the National Anti-corruption Strategy five years after it was put in place. The survey coordinated by the National Anti-Corruption Coalition begins on June 22 to July 1, 2015 throughout the national territory. The coordinator of the National Anti-corruption Coalition at CONAC, Alfred Etom underlined the overall objective which he said is to evaluate the impact of the National anti-corruption strategy among users of public services. He survey will also assess the extra payments made by users to get access to public services, the duration for files to be treated and above all the level of execution of the strategy and degree of involvement of public administrations.

At the end of the survey, Mr Etom stated, a report will be presented with the classification of public administrative units in terms of corruption index.
