Though the Lioness bowed out of the tournament in the 8^th final, they were heroic.

The Lionesses in the maiden participation at the final phase of the World Cup accomplished the extraordinary feat of attaining the 8^th finals of the competition. Whereas no one thought the squad would sail through the group stage judging from their performance at the London Olympics when they scored only one goal and conceded eight after three defeats.  In his declaration before they left for the world Cup in Canada, Enow Ngatchu said their ambition was to do better than London 2012. This means if the Lionesses scored two goals and concedes three defeats they would have done better than at the Olympic Games.

However the Lionesses far surpassed that objective as they did not only score more than one goal, but also conceded less goals than in London 2012. The Lionesses scored nine goals and conceded four in Canada, scoring six against Ecuador, one against Japan and two against Switzerland.  The Lionesses began the 2015 World cup Campaign with a thrilling 6-0 victory over fellow neophyte, Ecuador on June 8^th at the B C place stadium in Vancouver. The amazing victory placed Cameroon in orbit for qualification for the knock out stage either as second or as overall best third in the worse scenario due to the positive goal difference.

In their second outing still at the B C Place stadium in Vancouver on June 12th, the Lionesses logically bowed to the defending champions, Japan 1-2 in an encounter they could as well have won had it not been for the too much respect they had for the Japanese in the opening minutes of the encounter.

The third group encounter against Switzerland was a must win encounter and the Lionesses rose up to the occasion coming behind a one goal deficit to beat the Swiss 2-1 at the Commonwealth stadium in Edmonton. The victory qualified them for the 8^th finals as second of Group C with six points behind the group leader, Japan on nine points. At the 8^th finals, they bowed to Japan 0-1 but not without having given the Chinese a run for their money at the Commonwealth stadium in Edmonton.

Though the Lionesses bowed out of the tournament at the 8^th finals, their performance was far from ridiculous even in defeat. They were the only African team to attain the knock out stage of the tournament much against forecasts as many people saw but Nigeria in the second round owing to the fact that they have been dominating feminine football on the continent for over a decade. The other African representative, Côte d’Ivoire was humiliated 10-1 by Germany which proves how far the Lionesses were heroic.
