In respect of the Prime Minister’s prescription for ministries to accelerate the treatment of documents and make information available to the public, the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education has come up with a user’s guide to spur good governance. The user’s guide which was conceived in partnership with the Ministry of Public Service was presented in a ceremony at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex on Tuesday, July 28.

Speaking during the ceremony, the minister of Public Works, Michel Angouing said it was the role of his ministry to accompany reforms in all administrative departments, reason why he put a team led by the Permanent Secretary of administrative reforms, Chancel Ako, at the disposal of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education to assist in the elaboration of the guide. He said the guide was a priority project in administrative reforms and good governance according to the prescriptions of the Prime minister.

Meanwhile Adoum expressed gratitude to his colleague of Public Service and Administrative Reforms saying the guide will promote the rule of law, transparency and accountability. He said henceforth, users will know where to request services within his ministry and the time frame for the treatment of such documents to avoid administrative bottle necks. According to the head of the SIGIPES unit at the sports ministry, Messobo Awono, the guide will enable staff of the ministry to overcome the challenges to the modernisation of public administrative.
