Morocco Encourages Cameroon’s Anti-terrorism War

Ambassador Lahcen Saile made the declaration in Yaounde on July 30, 2015.

The Kingdom of Morocco has condemned Boko Haram attacks and atrocities in Cameroon and supported the merciless fight government is waging against the terrorist group. Ambassador Lahcen Saile of Morocco to Cameroon made the declaration in the Yaounde Hilton Hotel on July 30, 2015 during celebrations marking the 16th anniversary of King Mohammed VI accession to the throne that is celebrated every July 30.

Cameroon’s External Relations Minister, Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo was government’s representative. There were also other cabinet ministers,  the highest ranking among whom was the Vice Prime Minister, Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Relations with the Assemblies, Amadou Ali. Also present were some members of the diplomatic corps and heads of international organizations accredited to Cameroon. Ambassador Lahcen Saile used the occasion to present some aspects of the fruitful cooperation between Cameroon and Morocco, citing examples such as the exchange of visits by high-level State officials, Moroccan investments in Cameroon in the domains of health, water, public contracts and cooperation in education.  He encouraged Cameroon in its role in fostering regional integration and expressed the wish for more fruitful socio-cultural and economic cooperation.

Talking of the celebration of the King’s accession to the throne, the Ambassador said it was an occasion to laud advances in economic and political reforms, justice, civil society, good governance, technological development and economic prosperity. He said Morocco laid much emphasis in promoting south-south cooperation through designed cooperation policies with other African States. Highlights of the policies include promotion of trade, investments, valorization of human capital, strengthening institutions, fight against terrorism by creating  an institution to train Imams and participating in resolving conflicts such as in Mali.
