‘Madman’ Caught With 12,000 US Dollars

Of Nigerian nationality, the suspect was arrested at Rond Point Deido, Douala, on July 28, 2015.

A joint operation by men of the Douala Central Police Station No. 1 and those of the 4th and 9th District Police Stations led to the arrest of 40-year-old Francis Arinze Osigbehme at Rond Point Deido, Douala on July 28, 2015. The suspect, who had been feigning madness on the site for some days, was arrested following clues from the population and instructions from the Littoral Delegate for National Security, Raymond Essogo.

Arinze, who continued putting on his pretentious act after his arrest, was in possession of a valid passport that bears his full names, FCFA 213,000 and 12,000 US Dollars. Meanwhile, he has not yet made any statement as to what his mission in Cameroon is. The supposed madman’s refusal to collaborate with the police landed him in the hands of the Specialised Intelligence Service of the Littoral Regional Delegation of National Security for further questioning, following instructions by the Regional Delegate.

With the growing insecurity in the country due to the activities of the Islamist sect, Boko Haram, the population has been enjoined to be vigilant and report suspected persons to the nearest police station or call the toll-free numbers 117, 120 and 1500.
