Public Places: No-go Areas For Uninvited Guests

Boko Haram terrorist attacks now necessitate a change in attitudes for purposes of identification.

Away from the nation’s Armed Forces battling the Boko Haram terrorists, new attitudes are now needed by the general public to isolate and checkout evil. In effect, indiscipline and cacophony must be kept out of the public space and attitudes and behaviour that raise suspicion must be reduced to virtually naught.

Protocol and meticulous attitudes are henceforth recommended for public places that include weddings, conferences, playgrounds, church houses, mosques, markets, etc. It is time out for gatecrashers or uninvited guests. Lured by the offer of free food or drinks, it has so far been common to find people attend events to which they were not invited.

The experience is that quite often, it is such category of people who stir problems, fight and pit people against each other. It is all about idlers and irresponsible people. In a situation of heightened insecurity like what Cameroon is going through, these people become suspects. This is why event organisers must henceforth ensure the screening of guests for purses of identification and accountability in the event of trouble.

Invitation cards must therefore be demanded before participation in conferences, weddings and other social gatherings. Security must be stepped up in football fields and churches and mosques must organize themselves to easily identify visiting worshippers and any guests with evil intentions.
