The agreements provide among others for oversight of student enrolment, course content and award of certificates.
In a bid to give greater credibility to their training programmes, six private higher education institutes on Friday, August 7, 2015, signed Memorandums Of Understanding, MoUs with the University of Yaounde II, Soa for the oversight of their courses. The institutions were the Cheikh Anta Diop Higher Institute, the University Institute of Science and Management, the Rosiére Higher Institute, the Higher School of Commerce, the Higher School of Management; all in Yaounde, and the Protestant Higher Institute of Science and Technology, Elat.
Speaking at the event in the Soa campus in the presence of a representative of the Ministry of Higher Education, MINESUP, the Rector of the University of Yaounde II, Prof. Oumarou Bouba, urged the proprietors of the six institutes to master the laws regulating their operations. Listing some of the terms of the agreements, Prof. Bouba said all academic activities in the private schools must be under the supervision of his university, while further educational partnership deals with other institutions must involve the University of Yaounde II and the approval of MINESUP.
Similarly, certificates of students from the schools that signed the MoUs will be issued by the University of Yaounde II, which will also oversee student recruitment and defence of dissertations. Concluding, the Rector promised that teams from his university will soon be sent out to the six private higher education institutes to again crosscheck the standards of their educational programmes.
The representative of the six private higher institutes, Prof. Etienne Tsambo, pledged their readiness to abide by the terms of the Memorandums Of Understanding. The signing of the MoUs was done by proprietors of the concerned schools, Prof. Oumarou Bouba and Prof. Mol Nang, Vice Rector in charge of Research, Cooperation and Relations with the Business World at the University of Yaounde II.
