Youth Council Officials Acquire Leadership Skills

A three-day workshop organised by the Parliamentary Youth Affairs Network (REJE) kicked off at the Glass Palace on August 10, 2015.

Over 100 young men and women from the eight sub-divisional executive of the National Youth Council’s Mfoundi Divisional branch in the Centre Region, started receiving skills in leadership as well as information on income-generating opportunities yesterday, August 10, 2015 at the National Assembly.   

“You must banish the cult of immediateness which exposes you to risks and temptations that could compromise your future. You should know, Dear Youths, that the future is constructed each day. This capacity-building workshop will certainly contribute to preparing the way for a better and solid future,” said the Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Theodore Datouo, while opening the three-day workshop organised by the Parliamentary Youth Affairs Network, REJE. Explaining the motives for the training, the President of the Mfoundi Divisional Branch of the National Youth Council (NYC), Lucie Molo Awono, it was observed that local structures of the NYC were not active, thereby hampering work.

According to REJE’s Coordinator, Hon. Gaston Komba, the first two days of the training offered by the reputed Junior Chamber International (JCI), will focus on issues such as the organisation of youth, networking, the art of oratory and communication as well as project and time management, amongst others. On the third day, the trainees will be given information by various officials of State programmes and projects such as PAJER-U, PIASSI, PAIJA on opportunities for sponsored self-employment initiatives. Each Sub-divisional Executive received computer equipment and printers offered by several MPs.
