Plan Cameroon Reinforces Healthcare Assistance

The International NGO signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Public Health last Tuesday, August 11, 2015.

Plan Cameroon and the Ministry of Public Health have signed a framework agreement to reinforce healthcare and other facilities to Cameroonians particularly those in the rural areas. The Country Director of Plan Cameroon, Bell’Aube Houinato signed on behalf of the organisation while the Minister of Public Health, Andre Mama Fouda signed for Cameroon.

Through the convention, André Mama Fouda said the activities of Plan Cameroon throughout the country will be better executed and evaluated for the benefit of the population. The Minister added that Plan’s actions fall within government’s activities to meet up with the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which focus on reducing child mortality; improving maternal health and combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases as well as ensuring environmental sustainability. While calling on each person to carry out his activities effectively, André Mama Fouda lauded Plan Cameroon and urged them to extend their activities to other fields such as vaccination.

Since 1995, Bell’Aube Houinato said this was the first agreement Plan was signing with the Ministry of Public Health. Through the framework of agreement, Plan Cameroon will continue helping poor children to access their rights to health, education, livelihoods and protection. Bell’Aube said they will continue to support communities in the country towards ensuring environmental sustainability, promoting child health, support food security as well as addressing HIV amongst young people.
