Church services, football tournaments and round table conferences characterize commemorative activities.
As part of activities to mark its15 years of existence, the football training centre known as Semences Olympique, organized a round table conference on Wednesday August 12th at the conference hall of the Social Insurance Fund in Yaounde. The conference which was based on the theme, the fate and development of youth football witnessed the presentation of panellists like the assistant Technical Director number 2, Etienne and the former administrative director of national teams, Andre Nguijol.
Etienne Sockeng enumerated measures put in place by the National Technical Directorate to promote the development of youth football since the body was created and outlined what has to be done to kick start a veritable youth championship in Cameroon. He recommended the respect the stages in the training of children by recruiting qualified personnel, organizing more youth football competitions, establishing the youth wing of clubs in the elite championship as well as elaborate marketing strategies.
Speaking on the need of organising the conference, the promoter of Semences Olympique, Pascal Atangana said it was to give an opportunity for the Technical directorate to explain what they have been doing to the public as well as enrich the debate on the development of youth football in Cameroon so as to break the yoke of stagnation currently witnessed in the sector.
Commemorative activities started with a mass and comprise a football tournament at the Fecafoot Training Centre in Odja-Yaounde with the participation of neighbouring countries like Gabon and Equatorial Guinea as well as the Malian community in Douala. The final of the football competition will take place tomorrow at the Fecafoot Training centre in Odja-Yaounde.
