Professional Wrestling:Noudem in Epic Battle for African Title

He will face Power Lee of Nigeria at the Yaounde Multi Purpose sports complex on September 19.

Michel Noudem is on the path of succeeding Super Makia as African heavyweight wrestling championship on September 19 when he tales on Nigerian born Power Lee. Both men are contending for the African heavyweight title left by Super Makia when he retired from the game a year ago. In prelude to the event, the Cameroon professional wrestling Association granted a press conference at the seat of the federation in Yaounde on Thursday, August 27th.

Speaking during the press conference, the president of the Cameroon Professional Wrestling association, Siantou Wantou Lucien said the combat will help vulgarise the game in Cameroon as the objective of the association is to lift the game to higher standards like in the United States. Siantou who is in the process of constructing a new and specialized wrestling ring for wrestling, says the championship and cup competition will come up after the epic battle to make up for the lack of competitions in wrestling.

The vice president of the association, Ndo Emmanuel said besides the epic battle between the six time Cameroon champion, Michel Noudem and the seven times Nigerian champion, Power Lee, there will be battles in four other categories with the participation of wrestlers from six African countries. He disclosed that Noudem will have to put his belt up for play in less than one year in case of victory over the great Power Lee as the champion will have to represent Africa at the world championship to take place in the United States

According to the promoter of the event, Egbe Bisong Emmanuel, Super Makia will keep the belt he has conserved for 28 years as a new belt will be given to the new African champion. Noudem, who also doubles as national coach for professional wrestling, says he is not afraid to meet Power Lee who ha beat in 2011 in Nigeria, saying he has stepped up training towards the fight so as to make Cameroon proud.
