Ambassador Omer Faruk Dogan yesterday in Yaounde paid a farewell visit to the Minister of Housing and Urban Development.

Turkish Ambassador to Cameroon Omer Faruk Dogan has been upbeat about the future of the relations and partnership between Turkey and Cameroon in the urban development and housing domain. He made the remarks yesterday September 2, 2015 while paying a farewell visit to the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Jean Claude Mbwentchou after his three-year mission in Cameroon.

The Turkish Diplomat came to pledge the Turkish government’s wish to continue the bilateral relationship with the government of Cameroon in terms of mass housing development. He reiterated that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is important for an emerging Cameroon through the construction of low- cost houses. While noting that Turkey has one of the most important constructors in the world in terms of capacity, the Turkish diplomat believed that they can greatly contribute to realising the huge projects in Cameroon. 

He told the press that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is very important for an emerging country by 2035. He believes that the ministry is capable of building the low-cost houses meant to aid low income earners as promised by the Head of State to the Cameroonian population. While working with Minister Jean Claude Mbwentchou, Ambassador Omer Faruk Dogan said some progress has already been made because some Turkish constructors have given proposals but there is need to seriously work on them.  For a start, the Ambassador said they have already opened a cement factory in Douala, which is a pillar for any construction. With the new legislation inforce, it will permit Cameroonians to acquire low cost houses thereby improving housing conditions in the country.
